A pathway is submerged under water from the Tidal Basin that rose above the protective sea walls during high tide on April 4, 2024 in Washington, DC. The National Park Service will be cutting down about 300 trees, 140 of them will be the famous Cherry trees, so they can repair and rebuild the failing sea walls around the Tidal Basin. The sea walls were constructed in the late 1800?s and some sections have sunk as much as 5 feet due to poor drainage, erosion, and rising water levels. Photo Credit: Samuel Corum/ Sipa USA/ Fotoarena
